S&S Sweep Singapore!

No, it's not a new brand that's going to take over the entire fashion industry worldwide.

But it might be someday ;)

FRIDAY, 18-01-2008
It was my most spontaneous trip outstation with a friend – We only confirmed our trip 100% the very day before (“So are we going?” “Can lah. Let’s go!”), packed our belongings in record time, and bought our tickets 10 minutes before the bus left the station. When we boarded, my bestie looked around the bus and said, “Ok, if we were in the Amazing Race, we’d be the last but the hottest!”

Bus rides pass much faster when you’re in good company. Shann yakked about her dream of starting up her own book of quotes. One of them was, “Join us in hell. We have the cookies."

“What makes you think they don’t have cookies in heaven?” I asked.

She sniffed indignantly.

“I think there are probably truffles in heaven…” I continued dreamily.

“You know what would truly be heaven? Eating like crazy but never getting fat!”

“Yeah!! But in hell, everything would go straight to your ass!”

“Never mind what. It’s like a constant sauna down there anyway.”

And you would know right, Shann? :p

Our gorgeous manicured nails ;)

At one of the stops, we contemplated buying a gift for Istee’s mom in return for her kind offer of hospitality to us in Singapore. I was quite keen on getting her some durian dodol which came in long rolls from one of the stalls until Shann peered over my shoulder and went,

“Hmm.. Mr Cheah.. I heard you travel a lot.”

-_____-"

Gross! Won’t be able to see dodol the same way ever again! Silly, horny woman, that Shann...

My phone battery was already dying halfway through the journey when we realized that the bus had electricity sockets installed beside the seats! So I got out my charger from my luggage & managed to charge my phone. What a 'Nice' bus indeed! I will forever support that bus company! ^^

Our main agenda for the trip was to surprise one of our best friends, Istee, who hadn’t managed to spend much time with us in KL when she came back during her holidays. (However, she could afford to fly down all the way from the UK to attend Jay Chou’s concert in Singapore!) Sigh... We are such nice people, I tell you.

Upon arriving at our stop in Singapore, the Copthorne Orchid Hotel, we took a cab to Istee’s brother’s condo - The Regalia at 2 River Valley Close. Her mum had gone to fetch her from the concert and they still weren’t back yet so we sat in the lobby downstairs, facing the entrance. The plan was for us to be in the condo by the time Istee got back so we could behave all casual and nonchalant when she entered. We were waiting for her brother to come downstairs and fetch us, but due to miscommunication he thought we were coming up. When the car pulled into the driveway, Shann and I were busy talking. Thank goodness she was sharp enough to catch Mrs Cheah motioning for us to hide! We sprang from the bench into a hidden corner, leaving our luggage behind in full view. That was definitely not part of the plan. It couldn’t just have been the bags; Istee must have sensed something was up because when she got out of the car, she exclaimed, “Someone’s here!” Shann giggled out loud and we jumped out at her as she came running up the steps. You should have seen the look on my Ninnypoop’s face.. It was all worth it!

:D :D :D

SATURDAY, 19-01-2008
Woke up feeling hungry, but we continued to lie in bed exchanging gossip from the night before.

Istee insulted Shann about something which made Shann try to commit suicide, but Istee's mum saw her from the kitchen window so the plan was aborted.

It was cozy just cuddling up under the sheets, listening to the fan tick while my two girlfriends bickered away... Love them to bits.

We finally got a move on when Shann voiced, "What’s your mum cooking? I know she is! I can hear the wok. Take it from someone who’s fat."

Had shanghai-style dim sum at the new Singapore airport for brunch. After seeing Istee off, Sammy & Shann relied upon Shann's navigating skills to head to Sentosa Island.

One of my best memories of the trip is of the two of us clowning around in the train and singing out loud to our favourite songs on her mobile phone: much to the amusement/annoyance of the other passengers. We elicited much attention from the Singaporeans. No harm was done though; we have nice voices, and sclew it.. Girls just wanna have fun!

We be hawt from top to toe ;)

Shann suggested we visit a reknown beach bar, Café del Mar, which she'd visited previously but I'd only read of in magazines. What a good choice of activity it was too! It so happened to be their anniversary on the day we went.

This is where I took most of my pictures on the trip!

Crème de Banana on the rocks & my AX sunnies~

Beautiful blue sky and white clouds, which I think could easily be mistaken for the waves and sea spray here.

I managed to add the 'ET effect' to this picture the way we originaly intended to take it, babe! ;D

Snacking on golden calamari rings..

and 'accesorizing' with them!

Hun, I know you warned me not to put this up but I just can't help it! LOL. I love my ingeniousness!

The picture-taking stopped as I obviously became distracted. Just kidding! :D

Angles make all the difference..

'ass' do the right spots ;x

After spending many fun-filled hours there, we decided to move on to Vivo City where we literally shopped till we dropped, with only a break for Ben & Jerry’s.

My first time having Ben & Jerry's was in Hong Kong with the dad, and till this day it remains my absolute favourite ice cream parlor ever!

I had a scoop of 'Phish food' - one of their best loved ice cream flavours (chocolate mixed with caramel sauce & marshmallow creme) - on top of one of their famous brownies. Drizzled with hot fudge, sprinkled with M&Ms with topped with whipped cream ~ what a dream! Even Shannon who was restraining herself finally gave in and stole some.

More memorable convo~>

Shann: Omg. If you work here, you get to steal their cookies!

Sam: *Without turning around, being too deeply involved in her ice cream..* Where??

Shann: I’m serious! He’s eating it as we speak! Hey, what’s that scientific process where food moves down ur throat? Peristalsis.. Periltasis.. Periltisalsis...

Sam: I’m sorry.. I’m in chocolate heaven. I can’t hear you.. ~_~

Do you get it? Cos I don't. Look at the fish-shaped chocolate chunk I found in my ice cream though! Hence 'the name, Phish food'.

I've always loved Ben & Jerry's other products as well - especially this pink cap, which I'd always admired but never purchased. this time, I finally bought it! I was so happy I couldn't stop smiling! X) That's Chow Vi beside me, btw. He was on holiday at Singapore for the weekend too.

Lookie the cows underneath the rim of the cap! So cute, can!

Even the chairs were made to look like cows' udders! :D

There was a special pillar for customers to leave a message. Even MTV VJ, Denise Keller was there before!

Shann & I were too tired to even go out for dinner that night; we 'dapao-ed' some food so we could just relax once we got 'home'. While walking back to the condo, we heard a familiar din. By following the source of the sounds, we spotted some fireworks! Even from afar, it was a really beautiful sight! Sweet heart o' mine grumbled...

Shann: Stupid trees.. I know you give us oxygen, but you’re blocking our view!

Sam: I wonder what they're celebrating?

Shann: I know! They’re celebrating us.

Aww... :)

Dinner was cheap Italian: red wine from a can (which I never knew existed till then!), microwavable spaghetti, and a pizza bar. Chilled the wine, warmed up the food & ate it while watching Shannon burn off calories to 'Dance Revolution' on Nintendo.

SUNDAY, 20-01-2008
Kington brought us specially to the Botanic Gardens for a nice hearty breakfast. We were constantly surrounded by good looking couples with adorable babies, as well as gorgeous dogs!

Camwhoring in a cab.

After much tummy expansion, we needed to walk/shop it off.

It was Shann's idea to take this picture :D I grumbled innitially, but now I'm glad we did. I love it!

We visited ‘House of Condom’ at my request. The sex novelty stores overseas always have a much wider selection of cute & kinky sex gimmicks!

As we were window shopping with no specific target in mind, Kington mentioned, "There’s a Bag Bar here."

That stopped me in my tracks.

Sam: Wait, what did you say?? You just put two of my favourite words together!

Shann: What if it had the word ‘Sale’? That would be 3 of ur favourite words together!

Our footsteps quickened. Then we saw the shop...

Sam: OMG!

That was when I started having heart palpitations.

We browsed through Kinokuniya in Takashimaya, which is far more impressive than the one in KLCC. Us Malaysians may not realize it, but many books have actually been banned in Malaysia >:(

We got an extra nice surprise that day when Kington took us out for tea time :)

It was like a little fairytale place!

I spotted this at the front counter. It appears they've won the Women's Weekly Gold Plate Award for 'Best for Girls' Get Together' :D

The interior and everything else about the place was just so peaceful and pretty!

Gorgeous menu...

Gorgeous deco...

Gorgeous food...

Kington – one of the nicest guys I have ever met! Girls, keep a lookout! He's of a rare species of bachelors who lives in an entirely neat and clutter-free condo!

Note the differences in civilization! Remember the famous drawing depicting Darwin's theory of evolution? This is 'dis-evolution'! From sipping tea daintily to drinking coffee and lastly, slurping water.

While most restaurants use lemon slices or strawberries to flavour their water, it was unusual that Copenhagen's water tasted distinctively of blueberries!

Milk jar - Another one of Shann's creative directions.

ROLF! Shann, I still can't believe you managed to convince him to pose for this picture! Nincompoop, I'm so sorry we contaminated your brother!

We left Singapore pretty much the same way we came - in a huge hurry. We were late for the bus again! It's funny how you suddenly spot stuff you like or things start to look more appealing just when you really have to leave. Same thing happened as we left Copenhagen. I had to tear my eyes away from the multitude of cute purses and wallets as we hurried through the departmental store towards the exit. To keep myself distracted from the purses, I let my mind whirl on a particular matter. It started to bug me when I couldn't figure out an answer to the question, so I finally asked Miss Bestie, "What branded labels begins with the letter ‘S’?"

Shann: 'Salvatore Feragamo'.

Sam: But they don’t use the letter ‘S’ as their logo.

Shann: Yeah hor.. We should start our own label! What would we call it??

Sam: Ooh ooh!

SS!

S&S!

The Asses (S-es)!

Shann: Erm, okaaay... Let’s think of a name a little longer before we decide.
